Richard Holcomb is a local entrepreneur who owns Coon Rock Farm and has been a fan and friend of Sarig and Nancy for many years. When the current Glenwood South location for Zely & Ritz became available, Richard joined with Sarig and Nancy in fulfilling a life long dream of having a fine restaurant with a focus on fresh, locally produced organic produce and pasture raised animals.
Richard is a serial entrepreneur in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina. In addition to helping found Zely & Ritz, Richard has also helped start several technology companies including StrikeIron, a software technology and web services company; GadgetSpace, a wireless technology company acquired by Inphonic (Nasdaq:INPC) in 2001; HAHT Commerce, a major e-commerce application provider that was acquired by GXS in 2003; and Q+E Software, a supplier of client-server database access technology that was acquired by Intersolv (Nasdaq: ISLI) in 1994. Richard is an active venture investor and serves on the corporate boards of several public and private technology companies including Neon Systems (Nasdaq: NEON), ChannelAdvisor, IITS, and Ultimus.
Richard has served on several public advisory boards including the NCSU Graduate School Board of Advisors, the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technology Association (NCEITA), the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), NCSU Engineering Entrepreneur’s Program Advisory Board, and is a former appointed member of the North Carolina Information Resource Management Commission (IRMC).
During his career, Richard has won several awards including the 1993 Ernst and Young Technology Entrepreneur of the Year for North Carolina and the 1996 Business Leader Top Gun Entrepreneur of the Year. Mr. Holcomb received a B.S. from the University of South Carolina and an M.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. |
